Recipe Sukiyaki 1 tbsp peanut or vegetable oil 3 onions, sliced thin 1 ½ lb sirloin steak, ¼ “ thick 1 cup slice celery cut in strips ½ “ x 2” 1 cup sliced bamboo shoots ½ cup soy sauce ½ lb mushrooms , sliced thin 2 tbsp sugar 4 scallions (green onions) slice ½ cup beef broth ½ lb fresh spinach, washed and thoroughly drained 1 tbsp sherry Heat the oil in a large skillet Brown the meat over high heat, then push it to one side. Combine the soy sauce, sugar replacement, sherry, and broth. Pour half the mixture over the meat. Cook the onions and celery in the skillet for 3 minutes, then push them to one side and add the remaining soy-sauce mixture, bamboo shoots, mushroom, scallions, and spinach. Cook for 4 minutes. Don’t overcook, as everything should be crisp. Serve directly for the skillet with ¼ cup of rice for each serving. |
