A
new location but the same good food and friends
for more than fifty years. Started by our
grandfather in the late 40's, opened Hector' s
Restaurant on Crescent Street in downtown
Ogdensburg. Our parents, Del & Pauline,
opened the Maple's Restaurent on Proctor Ave in
1956. A family restaurant with a banquet room and
bar that has seen it's share of weddings and
parties. In 1961 a fire in the basement destroyed
the restaurant.
|
| In 1962 Del &
Pauline bought Casa De Frano, a
restaurant in downtown Ogdensburg. They
changed the name to Sholett's Restaurant
and had the same kind of business they
had at the Maple's. They added the bands
Friday and Saturday nights gaining much
Canadian Trade. In 1972 Urban Renewal
bought the building and down it came but
the memories remain. |

Sholette's
Steak House was opened on Father's Day in
1973 and lasted for twenty-two years.
This was different from the first two
restaurants, moved to a shopping center,
it did not have the banquet rooms of the
other places. done in spanish motif the
staek house became a gathering place for
all ages. Serving fine dining in the main
dining room and finger foods in the bar
and lounge. |
|
| In the 80's Del and
Pauline started to turn the operation
over to their four sons. They are now
running a liquor store but still have
valuable information to pass on. With the
closing of the major stores in the plaza
in the early 90's business stayed strong
but we felt that it was time to move. The
steak houses last day was February 29,
1996. |

On
April 15, 1996 (Tax Day) the new Shollett's Steak
& Ale opened for business. The new building
houses a sports bar, banquet room, non-smoking
dining room and an atrium. All serving the same
fine food that people in the are have come to
expect from the Sholette family.
